5784 Immersion

beginning this Fall!

Drawing deep from the wells of the mystical, magical, queer, earth-based, and prophetic dimensions of Jewish tradition, Taproot offers nourishment, community, and education for emerging Jewish organizers, activists, artists, cultural workers and ritual leaders.

Taproot comes from a deep longing of Jews alienated from their roots to sink deeper into the groundwaters of Jewish spirituality as a source of meaning and relevance in our everyday lives.

Our Mission & Prayer: We (re)position ourselves in the Jewish tradition in order to refashion a vibrant and accessible spiritual life. We are reckoning with, resonating with, and reimaging the lineages we inherit for the sake of collective liberation. We are remaking belonging in community, on the land, through ritual practice, following ancestral rhythms, supported by elders, anchored in study, and guided by mystery.

Taproot is an ongoing experiment, an emergent and exploratory collaboration — and we are excited to welcome you in.

The Taproot Immersion

An in-depth learning and healing experience designed for white-assimilated Jews who long for both a justice-oriented spiritual life and a spiritually-enlivened justice practice.

Our Story

How might our spiritual lineages and ancestral practices be a source of nourishment and a force for change in movements for justice? Our work at Taproot originates from this question.

5783 Cohort

Our inaugural eight-month Immersion Cohort dedicated to mystically-rooted, prayer-full, queer, accessible, and anti-racist Jewish healing, learning, and community-building.

Together we are: healing from histories of cultural disconnection and racial assimilation; developing thriving personal practices and skills of communal ritual leadership; and applying Jewish traditions to cultivate resilience, nurture community, and transform systems of harm.
